A Real Commitment to Veterans
We send people off to war with medals and parades and then leave them waiting months for care, stuck in shelters, or buried in bureaucracy when they return. That’s not patriotism. That’s abandonment.
Standing by veterans means more than slogans. It means health care without red tape, housing without delay, and opportunities without strings.
The Plan
1. Guaranteed housing for every veteran
End veteran homelessness through a ‘Housing First’ guarantee that provides housing without preconditions.
Expand the HUD-VASH program and increase funding for transitional housing, permanent supportive housing, and rapid rehousing.
Prohibit local zoning restrictions that block veteran housing projects.
2. Modernize and expand VA health care
No more dying in the waiting room. No more privatization schemes.
Fully fund and staff the VA and stop outsourcing to for-profit systems that delay or deny care.
Prioritize mental health, substance use treatment, and suicide prevention through dedicated regional VA teams.
Streamline eligibility and expand automatic enrollment for post-9/11 and Gulf War vets.
3. Education and career without barriers
Make GI Bill benefits universal and transferrable to family members.
Close loopholes that allow for-profit colleges to exploit vets for federal dollars.
Fund union apprenticeship programs and veteran job placement initiatives in clean energy, public service, and infrastructure.
4. Trauma-informed justice reform
Automatically expunge low-level convictions for veterans who complete treatment or reentry programs.
Establish veteran-specific diversion programs for non-violent offenses tied to PTSD, substance use, or homelessness.
Train all first responders and correctional staff in veteran-specific crisis response.
5. Full benefits for all veterans — no exceptions
Restore full benefits to LGBTQ+ and mentally ill vets discharged under discriminatory policies.”
Eliminate the “VA disability backlog” by modernizing claims processing and expanding presumptive condition categories.
Make VA care fully accessible to National Guard and Reserve veterans.
How we pay
Impose a war profiteer tax on defense contractors that exploit VA and Pentagon contracts.
Reclaim unspent military construction funds for veteran housing and mental healthcare.
End subsidies for for-profit colleges that prey on GI Bill recipients.
No more performative patriotism. No more promises without delivery.
If we can afford to send people to war, we can damn well afford to take care of them when they come home.
