A Livable Planet
Hyattsville basements underwater. Seat Pleasant choking on code-red smog. Gas blasts rattling Columbia and Bel Air. Metro rails warping from the heat. These are not “acts of God.” They are the bill for decades of fossil-fuel giveaways. Maryland and Prince George’s County sits on the front line of climate chaos, yet Congress still shovels billions to oil and gas. Whether elected or not, I will fight tirelessly to end this.
The plan
One hundred percent clean power by 2035
Pass a national Renewable Energy Standard and slam the door on new oil and gas leases on federal land and offshore waters.
Put community-owned solar on every school, library, and rec center roof in the district.
Green New Deal jobs program
Enact the Green New Deal for Public Schools and the Civilian Climate Corps, creating tens of thousands of union jobs upgrading buildings, wetlands, and transit.
Free training so every fossil worker walks straight into a steady clean-energy paycheck.
Local resilience first
Increase FEMA pre-disaster mitigation grants. Prioritize flood-control projects along the Anacostia and backup microgrids for hospitals and senior centers.
Launch a federal heat-pump rebate that covers low-income homeowners at one hundred percent of cost.
Environmental justice baked in
Codify cumulative-impact screening. No new pipeline, incinerator, landfill, or mega-warehouse in already overburdened Black or Brown neighborhoods.
Increase Superfund taxes on petrochemical companies and steer that revenue to Cancer Alley, Baltimore Harbor, and other sacrifice zones.
How we pay
End $10 billion a year in fossil fuel subsidies. Public money shouldn't bankroll pollution.
Impose a carbon import fee on dirty steel, cement, and other polluting goods.
Redirect 30 percent of the Pentagon’s overseas construction budget to climate resilience.
Tax windfall wealth and extreme corporate profits that fuel the crisis.
Every dollar spent now saves lives, creates jobs, and avoids billions in future disaster costs. Cleaner air. Safe water. Energy security. Cheaper bills. Jobs that cannot be outsourced.
That is the livable planet I am fighting for.
